The 'Wat Phou' Hindu temple, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fifth-century temple originally dedicated to Lord Shiva before being converted to a Buddhist temple in the 14th century. The ASI began restoration work in 2009 after signing an MoU with Laos in 2007.
Bhojshala Temple, referred to by Muslims as Kamal Maula Mosque, is situated in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. Hindus consider it to be the temple of Goddess Saraswati, also known as Vagdevi while Muslims consider it a Mosque named after a Sufi saint Kamal Maula.
Noted archaeologist KK Muhammed had also claimed the contentious complex was a Saraswati temple and later converted into an Islamic place of worship.

Gyanvapi case: The Varanasi court had earlier granted additional time to the ASI for the completion of the scientific survey of the mosque by November 17. The ASI survey began in July when the Allahabad HC said that step is "necessary in the interest of justice".
Gyanvapi case: The Allahabad High Court has stayed the Varanasi Court's order till July 27, Thursday and asked the ASI to halt the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque. The hearing will resume tomorrow from 3:30 pm onwards.
As per a recent study by the ASI, it has been found that Tungnath temple has inclined about 5 to 6 degrees.
Shahi Idgah mosque case: The mosque is said to be built on the birthplace of Lord Krishna and the court's latest ruling comes on a lawsuit filed by Vishnu Gupta of the Hindu Sena. The report regarding this is likely to be submitted on January 20.
