According to reports, heavily armed terrorists started spraying bullets at the CRPF team as soon as it reached Lazibal Chowk in Anantnag.
Three encounters broke out in south Kashmir's Anantnag and Shopian district this morning. In all three cases, the terrorists were hiding inside civilian houses and fired at the police when they were requested to surrender, the police said.
According to local reports, the terrorists were hiding inside a house, but when the security forces asked them to surrender they started shooting. One of the two terrorists was killed in the responsive fire.
While the SPO was killed on the spot, his wife, Fareeda, suffered injuries in the firing by the militants, the official said.
