Hundreds of people protesting peacefully against the Rowlatt Acts, which granted the colonial administration repressive powers, were gunned down by British forces without any provocation in what became one of the most brutal turns in their occupation of India.
The incident was reported from Khasa in Punjab's Amritsar. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts.
A drone was sighted near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Amritsar in the wee hours on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported. Taking prompt action, BSF jawans opened fire at the drone following which it flew back towards Pakistan.

SGPC said that in the matter of sacrilege attempt at the Golden Temple, 'whatever happened was a reaction in the defence'. The accused youth, it appeared, had taken commando training.
In a statement RSS general secretary, Dattatreya Hosabale said that such incidents should not be allowed to shatter mutual harmony.
The chief minister met senior police and administration officials in the city. A special investigation team (SIT) has been set up to probe the case.
