The BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the Congress, alleging that it circulated a “deep fake and morphed” video of Home Minister Amit Shah to derail the poll process, and demanded strict action against the party.
The action comes after the MHA and BJP lodged a complaint with the police regarding the issue of fake video involving Amit Shah circulating on social media and allegedly being shared by Congress leaders.
Revanth Reddy has been summoned to appear before Delhi Police's IFSO unit in the national capital. The action comes a day after the police registered a case on the complaints of the MHA and BJP.
The video was shared by various social media accounts, including official handles of Congress state units, asserting that the BJP intends to terminate SC/ST reservation.
A video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah is going viral on social media, claiming that he stated SC, ST, and OBC reservations would be abolished if the BJP government came to power. However, when fact-checked it was found that the viral video was doctored.
The BJP said in the complaint that the Home Minister’s original speech made in an election rally in Telangana was tampered with to give an impression that Shah spoke against the reservation for the SCs, STs and OBCs.
