Seven Amarnath pilgrims were killed while 32 others were injured in a cowardly terror attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
The annual Amarnath Yatra resumed on Sunday after a day-long suspension with a fresh batch of 4,411 pilgrims who left Jammu for the Kashmir Valley.
This year's yatra will be eight days shorter than the last year's 48 days. It will conclude on Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan) on August 7.
Two pilgrims died today after paying obeisance at the 3,880-metre high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir, taking the death toll in the ongoing yatra to six.

"Comprising 3,298 males, 986 females and 193 sadhus, the yatris left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in 136 vehicles escorted by the security forces", officials said.
“The yatra has been suspended temporarily in view of the rains that lashed the twin routes early in the morning, “an official of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) said.
The first batch of pilgrims will have the “darshan” of the ‘ice lingam’ (stalagmite) at the holy cave shrine tomorrow.
Militants are planning to target 100 policemen and as many pilgrims participating in the Amarnath Yatra, according to intelligence reports.
The shrine is situated at an altitude of 12,756 feet and about 141 km from Srinagar. The pilgrimage will begin on June 29 and conclude on August 7.
The forthcoming annual Amarnath yatra is scheduled to commence on June 29 simultaneously from Baltal and Chandanwari routes.
