More than 3.60 lakh pilgrims embarked on the Amarnath Yatra this year, outperforming last year's count with over a month still left before the pilgrimage concludes, said an official.
The suspension of the yatra had left around 15,000 pilgrims stranded in Jammu and at other places. Those stranded at Qazigund were also allowed to move towards Jammu, the officials said.
A mudslide, triggered by heavy rain, also hit the national highway near Ramban in the early hours, forcing the suspension of traffic.
The 62-day-long yatra to the Amarnath holy shrine commenced on July 1.
Amarnath Yatra 2023: According to officials, the yatra is going smoothly and devotees from all over the country are swarming the base camps to have a view of the naturally formed ice-shivlingam and offer their prayers.
The annual Yatra began today (July 1) with the first batch of pilgrims setting out from the base camp in Baltal for the cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas.
Amarnath Yatra 2023: The 62-day pilgrimage was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Shyambir, along with senior officials of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and the police, at the Baltal base camp.

Amarnath Yatra 2023: When the bus carrying 68 Amarnath pilgrims arrived at Shri Chichi Mata Mandir, Samba, for e-KYC verification and issuance of RFID cards, the fraud came to light, he said.
