The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UPATS) has arrested two Rohingyas, identified as Mohamed Rafique and Mohammed Amin, from the Makdoomnagar area under the Kotwali police station of Aligarh.
After recent reports of several deaths due to consumption of illicit liquor, Uttar Pradesh Police has raided a spurious liquor factory in neighbouring Haryana which was in league with a liquor mafia in Aligarh district. Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani told mediapersons that questioning of one of the arrested liquor mafia members, Madangopal alias Kalia who hails from Faridabad, led the police to the Gurugram factory.

At least 24 people have died and and several others were taken ill after consuming spurious liquor in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district. The police have arrested 17 people, including the liquor mafia mastermind, in the case, Aligarh SSP Kalanidhi Naithani told India TV.
The death toll in the Aligarh hooch tragedy climbed to 25 on Sunday, although local BJP MP Satish Gautam said according to information gathered by him, the death toll has crossed 35.
Aligarh SP said two liquor shops of the same licensee in village Kursua and Andla have been sealed as those who have died purchased alcohol from them. “A case is being registered against licensee and others involved.” Six police teams are combing villages to trace victims and help people get medical assistance.
