Appearing for the CBI and ED, Additional Solicitor General Tusshar Mehta told CBI Special Judge O P Saini that Chidambaram was not cooperating with the agencies.
Chidambaram had filed the plea for protection from arrest in the ED case on May 30 this year after which he got relief from the court on various occasions.
The Enforcement Directorate, which named the former minister as accused no. 1 in the charge sheet, has named eight other accused in the case including S Bhaskaraman and four Maxis companies.
Special CBI Judge O P Saini put up the matter for November 1 after the counsel appearing for agencies sought an adjournment in the matter.
The court pulled up the agency for filing the charge sheet without proper sanction and told the CBI that if required documents are not filed by November 26, the next day of hearing, the court may take appropriate action.
This is the fourth time the senior Congress leader is being questioned in the probe. He was last grilled for about six hours on August 24.
The Congress leader in an application levied allegations that the CBI only wanted media trial and was not interested in a fair probe.

The case relates to the foreign investment clearance for the Aircel-Maxis deal in 2006, when P Chidambaram was Finance Minister in Manmohan Singh-led UPA government at the Centre.
The former finance minister's comments came a day after a Delhi court extended the protection from arrest granted to P Chidambaram and his son Karti in the case till August 7.
Chidambaram had moved the court on May 30, seeking protection from arrest in the money laundering case.
The court, which was scheduled to take up the matter for consideration on Wednesday, posted it as the concerned judge was on leave.
The interim protection which was earlier granted till Tuesday has now been extended by a month by Justice AK Pathak.
Referring to the Centre's affidavit, which denied intent to protect anybody in the case, the court modified its interim order granting protection to Rajeshwar Singh against inquiry.
