The air quality of the national capital improved to the 'moderate' category on Sunday as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 159.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), several spots in the city reported AQIs at the higher end of the 'severe' category including RK Puram (492), Dwarka Sec-8 (497), Ashok Vihar (472), Shadipur (443) and North Campus (448) among many others.
In the northern parts of the city, air quality was categorised as very poor as wintry conditions prevailed preventing the dust particles from dispersing.
Delhi's air quality turned "severe" on Diwali with stubble burning accounting for 32 percent of the city's PM2.5 pollution and calm winds worsening the situation as they allowed the accumulation of pollutants, weather officials said.

According to the ordinance, a Commission for Air Quality Management will be set up for the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjoining areas in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The notification by the Ministry of Law and Justice said an ordinance will provide for the constitution of a commission for better coordination, research, identification and resolution of problems surrounding the air quality index.
The air quality in the national capital worsened on Monday morning post Dussehra celebrations, likely to pose additional health risks amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"I had in this letter explained that we may have to direct the closure of thermal power plants, which do not meet the 2015 standards as air quality deteriorates in the coming days," he said
In Bangladesh, the AQI is based on five pollutants: Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2 and Ozone, The Daily Star newspaper reported.
The national capital's Air Quality Index remains in 'poor' category on October 16. Air Quality Index is at 285 in ITO, 243 in RK Puram and 259 in Anand Vihar.
Delhi's air quality was recorded in the "poor" category on Thursday and is likely to deteriorate further due to unfavourable meteorological conditions and a spike in farm fires.
The national capital's air quality was recorded in the "moderate" category on Saturday, and is likely to turn "poor" in two days due to lowering temperatures and slow wind speed.
