In a show of solidarity with jailed former Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar, senior party leaders Ahmed Patel, K.C. Venugopal and D.K. Suresh met him on Thursday.
"Three people had come to meet (P. Chidambaram). It was part of a regular meeting," Tihar Jail Director General Sandeep Goyal told IANS. Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram was also among the visitors.
The ED has registered a money laundering case against the Sandesara brothers and others in August 2017 after a case of alleged bank fraud of Rs 5,700 crore was filed against them by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
For the general elections held in 2014, the dates for the polls were announced in the first week of March.

Patel has challenged the order of the Gujarat High Court's on October 26 last year by which it had dismissed his plea questioning the maintainability of rival BJP candidate Balwantsinh Rajput's election petition.
The apex court declined to interfere with the October 26, 2018 order of the Gujarat High Court which had said that Rajput’s allegations required a trial.
Patel replaced Motilal Vora, who was made General Secretary (Administration) in the reshuffle.
The bench, which also comprised Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, made it clear that the high court will not proceed in the matter thereafter.
Justice Bela Trivedi dismissed the application by Patel who was represented by senior Congress leader and lawyer Kapil Sibal in the court.
