Lucknow, Agra, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur have emerged as new COVID-19 hotspots in Uttar Pradesh as coronavirus cases in the state continue to rise. At present, the state has over 300 COVID-19 patients including two deaths while 19 people have recovered.
Uttar Pradesh coronavirus confirmed cases have surged over 170 after 16 more people tested positive in eastern UP on Saturday. Noida is the worst-hit district and emerged as a hotspot for coronavirus cases in the state with 58 COVID-19 cases after a total of 13 more were confirmed to be affected with coronavirus in Gautam Buddh Nagar on April 4.
Agra has witnessed 25 new coronavirus cases taking the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 45 in the district, informed Agra District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh.
On Thursday, two absconding persons, who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi's Nizamuddin last month, were held in Greater Noida and quarantined, police said. Two others, who had provided shelter to the Jamaat attendees, were also arrested and quarantined, they added.
According to government figures, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Uttar Pradesh has reached 42 with four patients identified on Thursday. There are eight cases from Agra, three from Ghaziabad, 14 from Noida, eight from Lucknow, two from Pilibhit and one each from Lakhimpur Kheri, Kanpur, Moradabad, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Baghpat and Shamli.
So far, there have been seven positive cases in the Taj city and five of the patients have recovered from the novel virus while two, including this woman, are under treatment, the Health Department officials said.
A factory worker who came in contact with the coronavirus positive businessman from Agra, has also tested positive, pushing the total number of coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh to six.
