Arun Jaitley to resume charge as finance minister after surgery break
Railways Minister Piyush Goyal was given additional charge of the finance ministry in Jaitley's absence
Jaitley (65) is recuperating after a kidney transplant operation.
"Atalji's demise is referred to by many as end of an era. I, however, consider it as a continuation of the era of which he was one who laid the foundation," said Arun Jaitley.
The Indian currency crashed on Tuesday on concerns over Turkey's economic woes that have impacted various emerging markets, even as the US dollar gained strength against other currencies.
"However India’s Macro fundamentals remain resilient and strong," he said in a series of tweets.
After three months, Jaitley arrived in parliament on Thursday for his first appearance in the Monsoon session.
Jaitley had stepped aside as the finance minister in May to undergo a kidney transplant. The charge was then handed over to Minister for Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal.
His blog comes amidst allegations of scandal in Rafale fighter deal levelled by Prashant Bhushan and two former BJP ministers - Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie.
Jaitley had accused Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee of playing with India's sovereignty on the NRC issue.
Accusing the Congress of compromising with the sovereignty of India, Jaitley said that leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee should understand that India's sovereignty is not a plaything.
Jaitley said the revenue burden was entirely borne from the share of the Central government since state governments had been guaranteed a 14 per cent increase over their pre-GST revenues for the first five years.
Referring to the government’s refusal to disclose the entire amount involved in the deal. Jaitley said that the UPA Ministers also never disclosed the cost breakup of the weaponry because that is not in larger national interest.
Jaitley also hit out at the Congress President accusing him of trivialising the no-confidence motion debate stressing “facts are always sacrosanct”.
Taking a pot-shot at opposition's effort to stich a "non-ideological opportunistic" alliance just to "Keep Modi Out", Jaitley said in a hard-hitting Facebook post that India cannot afford to have 'bechara' (helpless) Prime Minister.
"I would very humbly and with folded hands request Shri Arun Jaitley to write a Facebook post on who is India's finance minister. That is the most important thing he needs to do. He must solve that mystery," Surjewala said.
Jaitley said that the NDA government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has ensured that rural India and the less privileged get the first right on resource.
Addressing the foundation day event of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Union Minister Arun Jaitley stressed that the Modi government is paying special attentions towards improving rural infrastructure.
Referring to the ongoing trade war between super powers US, China, Jaitley said that the situation is causing an economic imbalance in the world.
In a blog, Jaitley said there were many in India who were opposed to the very idea of partition and amongst the leading opponents undoubtedly was Mookerjee.
