Keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation, the CBSE and CISCE are contemplating various options about the pending class 12 board exams, including cancellation and adopting alternative assessment route or going ahead with the exams in truncated format, according to sources.
The NSUI demanded that the government should find an alternative to the examinations as India is battling a second wave of coronavirus infection.
The Supreme Court will hear a petition seeking cancellation of Class 12 board examinations amid present COVID-19 situation on Friday.
In the board exam meeting held last week, it was suggested to conduct exam in shorter duration (90 minutes), for 20 important subjects and from home centres. The decision on whether to conduct class 12 exam is likely by June 1.
The Education Ministry had asked all the states and union territories (UTs) to send their suggestions on class 12 board examinations by May 25. After participating in a meeting convened by the Centre on the Class 12 board exams conducted on May 23.

State governments like Delhi, Tamil Nadu are not in favour of conducting the class 12 board exams in this pandemic situation.
The demand by several states, including Kerala and Delhi, to vaccinate class 12 students before conducting board exams is a pertinent point but seems to be impractical at present, several health and education experts have said.

The Delhi government is not in favour of the CBSE exploring options to conduct the Class 12 board examinations and going ahead with the process without vaccinating the students will prove to be a big mistake, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Sunday.
According to CBSE, the young warriors will be assigned a series of tasks from vaccine registration, access to health and essential services, Covid appropriate behaviours, myth-busting.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will not announce the Class 10 Board results on June 20.
Ramesh Pokhriyal told IndiaTV, "The meeting with state education secretaries is going on. If there is any decision on cancellation of exam, will inform."
As per reports, the plea filed by advocate Mamta Sharma requested to assess the class 12 students on the basis of objective methodology.
The board had on April 14 announced cancellation of class 10 exams and postponed class 12 exams in view of surge in COVID-19 cases.
Schools will finalise the results by May 25, and will the submit the marks to CBSE by June 5.
The official, meanwhile hinted, if the present situation doesnot improve, then the board will have fewer options rather than to cancel the exams
According to CBSE, the app- 'CBSE Dost For Life' will have fearures like counselling sessions, time slot to connect with expert, suggestive course guide after 10+2, mental health and well being tips, corona guide, rap songs.
As per the CBSE circular, the board asked schools to upload the marks of internal assessment by June 11.
