CBI files case against three customs officials of Hyderabad airport on conspiracy, corruption charges

The booked customs officials were indulged in exchanging foreign currencies which they obtained as "undue advantage" in lieu of imposing less custom duty or sometimes less duty.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against three customs officials posted at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad over allegations of conspiracy and corruption.

The arrested officials include two superintendents and one inspector. The central investigating agency issued a press release notifying the development.

According to the press release, the CISF intercepted two persons belonging to different companies in March this year while exchanging foreign currency worth nearly Rs 3 lakh.

The probe agency alleged that the three accused officials obtained foreign currency foreign currency from international passengers as "undue advantage" in lieu of imposing less custom duty or sometimes less duty and gave it to a private person.

Booked officials did it on regular basis

The CBI also alleged that three officials were adopting this modus operandi on a regular basis. The CBI registered the case on June 28 and the investigation is underway.

The release also said that the CBI conducted searches at four places including, three in Hyderabad and one in Delhi, which led to the incriminating documents.
