Realme launched several new smartphones in India in April, including the Realme Narzo 70 Series, which comprises the Narzo 70 Pro, Narzo 70X, and Narzo 70. Other recently launched smartphones include the Realme 12X, Realme C65, and Realme P1 series, which includes the P1 and P1 Pro smartphones. Many of these smartphones are rebadged versions of other smartphones. For example, the Realme P1 is a rebadged version of the Realme Narzo 70 and has similar specifications and pricing. I don't understand why Realme released the same phone under a different name, when they already had the Narzo 70 on the market.

However, in this article, we will review the Realme P1 in detail to help you decide whether it or its twin, the Realme Narzo 70, is the perfect mid-budget smartphone for you. But before we start the review, let's take a closer look at its specifications.

Realme P1 review: Design and display

Let's take a moment to review what you'll find in the retail box of the smartphone before diving into its design and display. The retail box includes the handset itself, along with a silicon case, a charger, a USB data cable, a SIM ejector tool, and some guides. In addition to this, Realme also provides a screen protector with the smartphone, which could save users some money.

When it comes to the design of the smartphone, it appears quite similar to most of the recent Realme smartphones that are currently available in the market, which include Realme Narzo 70 Series, Realme 12X and Realme C65. It has a circular rear camera module at the back, which consists of four different sensors. The phone features a textured design on the back panel.

The phone has dual stereo speakers located at the top and bottom edges. The speaker is loud and clear, and the bottom speaker placement is well-positioned and does not get muffled while playing games. However, the top edge speaker may get muffled while holding the phone in a landscape position.

The smartphone boasts a vivid and clear screen that is easily visible both indoors and outdoors. Users will not encounter any problems using it in bright daylight. The display accurately represents colours and is capable of playing Full HD videos. Furthermore, it has slimmer bezels on the top and bottom edges.

Realme P1 review: Performance and battery

The smartphone performs smoothly overall. I played games like BGMI and Bullet Echo India without experiencing any lag. The device does not heat up much when multitasking. However, it comes with a lot of unnecessary apps and duplicate software. You can uninstall some of them, while others can be force-stopped to free up storage space.

In terms of battery life, the smartphone can last for more than 5-6 days when left idle. With heavy to moderate usage, it can last for 1-2 days. The device also supports 45W fast charging and takes approximately an hour to fully charge.

Realme P1 review: Camera

The Realme P1 comes with a camera app that offers various features including Night Mode, Street Mode, Photograph Mode, Portrait Mode, Professional Mode, Panorama Mode, Text Scanner, and Tilt Shift. These modes and functions are also available on other Realme smartphones.

In terms of camera performance, the Realme P1 provides good picture quality considering its price range. Photos taken in daylight show nearly true colors but lack details. The front camera also lacks details, and the photos taken from it are at best satisfactory. However, photographs taken in Night Mode are good and have very little noise. The Portrait mode also performs well.

Realme P1 review: Verdict

When comparing the Realme P1 with the Narzo 70, both smartphones have nearly identical features and designs. However, if you require 256GB of storage, then the Realme P1 would be the better choice.

The Realme P1 is a good option as it does not lag or heat up during multitasking. It also performs decently for photography considering its price range.
