Chinese smartphone makers have been leading their way in charging innovation- especially when it comes to mid-range devices. As the budget and mid-tier devices have been taking over the market it is important to keep a check on their battery life as well, as the devices keep running out of juice. To beat the concerning issue in mid-range devices, specifically those under the budget of Rs 25,000, Infinix has launched the new Note 40 Pro which stands out with the new and upgraded features for multiple charging options, which is quite similar to the Apple iPhone-like MagSafe wireless charging.
In addition to its versatile charging capabilities, the Infinix Note 40 Pro comes with strong hardware, making it a unique option to opt for in the market. We reviewed the device for more than a month, and used it as a primary device, and here is our quick review to let you know how the device performs and if it is a perfect fit for the users.
Display
The Infinix Note 40 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch FHD resolution curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display of the handset is indeed bright enough for outdoor use, delivering vibrant colours which reproduce enhanced graphics for a better streaming experience on the device. The phone comes with a curved display with narrow bezels and a punch-hole design- giving it a premium look, when compared to higher-end models which already exist in the Indian market (devices like the Moto Edge 50 Pro and OnePlus 12).
Although the curved display makes it look great the smartphone looks premium indeed. One drawback of what we witnessed was too much of smudges on the display which will need constant need of cleaning and wiping. Overall, the display is vivid, bright and premium.
Processor
The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 SoC, which makes the Note 40 Pro handle casual gaming and multitasking easy. Games like Temple Run 2, Shadow Fight, Subway Surfer, and Walk in the Dead were taking on the task well- with almost 1 hour of gaming easily- without any heating issues. Even during extended gaming sessions, the device supports heavy games to have a longer play session without much heating issues.
Infinix comes with 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security updates. XOS 14, a heavily skinned version of Android comes optimized for daily use.
Camera performance
The handset is equipped with a triple camera setup on the rear end, with a 108 MP primary shooter which delivers really good shots. The performance is much better and the image quality is impressive. The secondary 2 MP sensors are mainly for aesthetics and take focused in-depth shots and are good too. The primary camera captures sharp images in daylight with good detail, but performance relatively drops in low-light conditions- which is a little turn-off. Digital zoom at 3x also produces decent results- but it might pixelated if used much.
Talking about the selfie shooter, the 32MP camera is decent enough to capture good selfies and could be a suitable device for video conferencing as well.
Storage and performance
The smartphone we reviewed houses 8 GB of RAM which claims to deliver smooth performance for everyday tasks, but this is a must to mention that occasionally the frame drops occur when switching from one app to another. On the storage front, the device comes with 256GB storage, which is good enough for handling as many as possible apps like- social media, games, OTT, images, video and documents.
Battery capacity and life
The Note 40 Pro 5G is backed by a 5,000 mAh battery, which further comes packed with 45W MAX wired and 20W wireless charging support. It is said that the device bypasses charging to reduce heat and features reverse wired and wireless charging as well. The charging time is a little longer than expected, as the charger’s capacity is the reason. Talking about the usage of the device, the smartphone delivers around 6-7 hours of life when used for regular usage.
Verdict
Infinix Note 40 Pro has been priced at around Rs 22,000 available on Flipkart (the e-commerce partner). The device has a very premium curved display, along with wireless charging support at this price point, along with a bloatware-free OS.
At this price, the smartphone is a decent performer, and when we talk about the scope of improvement, then camera performance and multitasking could be two places where we expect improvement. Also, the phone is thicker than other devices, which makes it bulky and could have been more attractive when it was a thin and sleek device at this price point.
Overall, with a unique and premium look, the device makes a good choice for those who are looking for normal performing device with distinctive features in the under 25K range.
