WhatsApp, an instant messaging platform owned by Meta has been an essential application for almost every smartphone user in today’s time. As one of the most widely used instant messaging apps across the world, the company has been adding several updates now and then to make the user experience more enhanced and engaging. Recently, the platform added a new status feature which will enable the user to post long-format videos and tagging contacts.

WhatsApp status section is consistently updating, and the company has been working on various important features to make it more engaging. Recently, it was reported that WhatsApp has come up with a new feature which enables the user to privately mention contacts in their status updates. Now, reports state that there is yet another update regarding this feature.
Viewing mentioned contacts
WhatsApp is working on making the status updates more interesting. As per the latest update, the platform will enable users to view the people mentioned in their status updates.

Development and availability of the new status feature
The new feature was revealed through the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.11.15. It will be available on the Google Play Store and soon, the users will be able to mention contacts in their status.
Although it is a must to mention that the upcoming feature is currently in the development phase, we expect it to roll out soon for all users.
Longer format videos to share on WhatsApp Status
Along with the tagging of the contacts on the Status of WhatsApp, the platform has been working on several other updates for status as well.
One significant feature which we could expect shortly is the ability to share longer videos on the status.
As per the WhatsAppinfo report, users will be able to share videos of up to 1 minute in their status. This feature was already available for Android users. The feature will soon be available to iPhone users as well. At present, iPhone users can only share videos on the status which could be as long as 30 seconds. But, this new update will give more strength to post a longer video on the status.
