WhatsApp has released an update to its iPhone app. This update brings a new audio-sharing feature to Meta's messaging app, allowing users to share audio while sharing their screens with a friend or colleague during a video call. WhatsApp introduced the screen-sharing feature last year in August.
With WhatsApp's screen-sharing feature, users can share their screens during a video call. This feature is similar to what other apps like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom offer to their users. The screen-sharing feature on other conferencing platforms allows users to share both the video and audio during a conference call. However, up until now, iPhone users could only stream the video while sharing their screens, leaving out the audio component.
Previously, when you shared your screen on WhatsApp, you could only see what was happening in the video, but you couldn't hear anything. This meant that if you shared a YouTube video, for example, your friends could see the images or the video, but they wouldn't be able to hear the sound. This wasn't an issue if you were sharing a document or a file with no audio, but it became a problem when sharing videos. However, WhatsApp has now resolved this issue with its latest update.
The company has released WhatsApp version 29.4 for iPhones, which now supports audio sharing while sharing the screen. According to the release notes on Apple's App Store, "Screen sharing during video calls now supports sharing audio too." This new feature allows WhatsApp users to watch movies and other videos with their friends while sharing their screen in the app.
Here are the easy steps to watch a movie with your friend on WhatsApp:
Step 1: Update WhatsApp on your iPhone to the latest version.
Step 2: Open WhatsApp and go to the chat of the friend with whom you want to watch the movie.
Step 3: Tap on the camera icon located at the top of the chat window to make a video call.
Step 4: Once your friend picks up the call, tap on the Screen Sharing option, which can be found in the menu right next to the flip camera button.
Step 5: Tap on the Continue button and then select the Start Broadcast button.
Step 6: After the screen sharing has begun, open the app on which you want to watch the movie, such as Netflix.
Step 7: Search for the movie you want to watch and tap on the play button to start streaming. That's it!
