Vodafone Idea (Vi), one of the leading telecom service provider in India is now offering prepaid plans which comes with a free Netflix subscription. The collaboration follows similar offerings when compared to that of Airtel and Jio (in 2023) last year. Vi's plan further provides a bundled solution for both- entertainment needs and mobile data.
Options and costing
Vi further offers two prepaid recharge plans with a Netflix base plan:
Rs. 998 plan
This plan comes bundled with unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day, 1.5GB of data per day and a Basic Netflix subscription which will last for 70 days. This plan is unavailable in Gujarat and Mumbai market
Rs. 1,099 plan
This plan is region-specific, and only available in Gujarat and Mumbai. It offers the same benefits as the Rs. 998 plan, and the only difference is the cost in these specific circles.
Rs. 1,399 plan
This plan offers 2.5GB of daily data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day and a Netflix basic subscription for 84 days.

Both existing and new Netflix users can avail this this offer.
How to activate this plan?
- After recharging, users will have to open the Vi app
- Now navigate to the plan benefits section
- There, click on the Netflix option which will redirect them to either create a new account or link an existing one (used by the users).
How to avail free Netflix plan for the existing user?
- By linking an existing Netflix account, your current subscription service will be paused and it will automatically switch to the Vi plan.
- However, this is worth nothing that the users who will subscribe through Apple will have to cancel that subscription first to avoid double charges.
Plan expiry and renewal details
- Once the recharge plan expires, Netflix will automatically switch back to the previously linked payment method.
- If no payment method exists, the account will be put on hold (like usual).
- Users can resume their Netflix experience by selecting a plan and adding a payment method directly on the Netflix platform.
Netflix Basic Plan: Benefits
- Netflix's basic plan is priced at Rs. 199 per month.
- It offers the video resolution up to 720p (maximum)
- Video could be streamed on one device at any time
- It could only be used on a single screen at a time.
- This plan supports various devices like TVs, smartphones, computers and tablets
- Users could also download the content and watch it offline.
