Mahindra is working on a 5-door version of the Thar SUV. A few test versions of the upcoming SUV have been spotted on the road. Now, a report has revealed some of the key features and specifications of the upcoming SUV. According to the report, Mahindra’s highly anticipated Thar 5-door is likely to be named Thar Armada. It will feature a range of first-in-class features, including a panoramic sunroof and ADAS level 2, among others. These are all the details you need to know.
Recent spy shots show that the Thar 5-door will have a dual-pane sunroof in its top-end variant. Earlier test vehicles had a single-pane sunroof, which is likely to be included in the mid-spec version. The Thar 5-door will be the only ladder-frame SUV in India with a panoramic sunroof. In addition to this, the SUV will come with ADAS level 2 safety features, which may include lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, and more.
The Thar 5-door will reportedly come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen for music and navigation, a fully digital display for speed and other information, and all-LED lights. It will have three types of wheels: steel for the basic version, alloys for the middle versions, and special diamond-cut alloys for the top models.
There will be three powertrains to choose from: a basic 1.5-liter diesel for an affordable starting price, a 2.2-liter diesel, and a 2.0-liter turbo petrol. As per the report, the 1.5-liter diesel to have rear-wheel drive, and the option for 4-wheel drive to be available only with the 2.2-liter diesel and 2.0-liter turbo-petrol models.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors introduced the Nexon in September 2017 in India. Now, after seven years, the sub-compact SUV has sold over 700,000 units and has an electric version as well. To mark this achievement, the carmaker is providing discounts on the petrol and diesel versions of the Nexon. This offer is available until June 30.
