Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. has officially become the principal shirt partner for Manchester United, one of the known and iconic sports teams in the world. The announcement surfaced alongside the launch of the new home kit for the 2024/25 season, which has featured the Snapdragon brand prominently for both- men's and women’s teams' shirts.
Expanding strategic collaboration
This partnership expands Qualcomm Technologies' existing collaboration with Manchester United. The Snapdragon brand will now be displayed on the home, which is away and third kits throughout the upcoming season.
Snapdragon processors, which are known for their performance in more than 3 billion devices across the world, next-generation PCs, power premium experiences in smartphones, gaming, wearables, virtual reality and automobiles.
New kit reveal
The latest Manchester United home shirt, which has been designed by Adidas, was unveiled with much fanfare. The shirt will make its debut on the field during the men’s team pre-season tour in the US and Europe, which further includes a match against Real Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on July 31, 2024, as part of the Snapdragon Cup.
Celebrating with a legend
The launch video, featuring Manchester United legend Eric Cantona, celebrates the passion and creativity that will be brought to the game. The video offers the first look at the Snapdragon-branded Manchester United shirt for the fans, with away and third kits to follow later in July.
Innovative fan experience
To enhance fan engagement, Snapdragon has developed an augmented reality (AR) experience which is accessible by scanning the Snapdragon logo on the new kits. This AR feature will further transport fans onto the pitch at Old Trafford and provide exclusive Manchester United content throughout the season.
Jean-Claude Blanc, Manchester United CEO, expressed his excitement about the new partnership. He highlighted the significance of the new kit launch and the innovative experiences Snapdragon processors will bring to fans worldwide. "We are looking forward to using Snapdragon’s technology to push the boundaries of fan engagement and bring them closer to the club they love," Blanc stated.
Don McGuire, Qualcomm's Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the global reach of Manchester United and the opportunity to elevate the Snapdragon brand. "This partnership is set to increase awareness and affinity for Snapdragon’s role in powering incredible experiences," McGuire said.
