OnePlus is set to launch a range of exciting new devices at an event which is scheduled for June 27. Among the lineup is a new wearable, which is expected to be named the OnePlus Watch 2R, as per the recent leaks. Here is everything you must know about the upcoming event and the wearable which is expected to unleash in the event.
New OnePlus smartwatch
OnePlus has been reportedly developing a new wearable with the model number OPWWE234- which is said to be closely related to the OnePlus Watch 2’s model number OPWWE231.
To remind you, the Watch 2 was released a couple of months ago, and it is certainly unlike this new device, the OnePlus Watch 3. Instead, it is speculated to be a variant of the Watch 2, which was suggested by Max Jambor, a known tech expert, commonly known for his leaks. He disclosed via a tweet which simply states ‘OnePlus Watch 2R’.
Watch 2R: What to expect?
OnePlus often uses the ‘R’ for its more affordable range and mid-range variants, like the OnePlus 12R- which when compared to the flagship OnePlus 12 is at a low price point. The Watch 2R is expected to follow the same approach, by offering a design which resembles the OnePlus Watch 2 but potentially with some cost-saving adjustments. The promotional material further suggests that the new wearable will retain the same ‘Radiant Steel’ and ‘Black Steel’ colour options, just like the Watch 2 which was launched a couple of months back, along with two crown-style buttons (instead of one).
Where will the new smartwatch start its sale?
As per the promotional content available on Weibo, it indicates that the OnePlus smartwatch will be named the Watch 2 in the Chinese market. This is said to be the name, as it makes sense- because the previously launched wearable was Watch 2- and it was not been released in China yet.
However, as per the speculations, the smartwatch will not entirely match the OnePlus Watch 2, as it points to region-specific and possible feature adjustments. The wearable is expected to be backed by a 500mAh battery alike its predecessor and may further support the LTE connectivity for some Chinese carriers.
What other devices are expected to launch on June 27?
In the upcoming event of OnePlus, it is said that, besides the Watch 2R, the company is set to unleash other important devices, like:
OnePlus Tablet Pro, which is a successor to the OnePlus Pad and could be said as the strongest Android tablet.
OnePlus Ace 3 Pro is the other device which is expected to launch as the first smartphone to feature the innovative Glacier Battery technology. This device comes with an enhanced battery.
Will the OnePlus Watch 2R Be available globally?
Although, by the time of writing, it is still uncertain if the upcoming and speculated OnePlus Watch 2R will make it to the Indian market. However, it is speculated that OnePlus has been planning for global availability and will likely become clearer only after June 27.
