Users may have to wait a while for the release of Nothing Phone (3), as company founder and CEO Carl Pei mentioned on social media that the launch may be delayed due to AI features being developed for the phone. In the meantime, the company is set to launch its sub-brand CMF's first smartphone, CMF Phone 1, although the launch date has not been confirmed.
The company is focusing on developing in-house AI technology to incorporate AI features into its products, with the possibility of including these features in the upcoming Nothing Phone (3). However, it's still uncertain whether the phone will be launched next year with the AI feature or if the AI feature will be introduced separately. If the company plans to offer the AI feature out-of-the-box, the phone might be released next year.
Carl Pei also mentioned in a video message that the company aims to provide personalised AI-based features tailored to individual user needs. During the video, he showcased the phone's screen, which featured multiple square widgets, hinting at the possible use of AI in the Glyph interface of the company's upcoming smartphone.
The rumoured features of the Nothing Phone (3) include a newly designed Glyph interface and the inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with AI support. As for the CMF Phone 1, it's speculated to be a rebranded version of the company's Nothing Phone (2a) released in India, with differences in design and a potentially lower price point aimed at budget users.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2024, smartwatch shipments in India only grew by 0.3 percent compared to the previous year, according to a report by Counterpoint Research. The combined market share of the top three original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) decreased from 77 percent to 66 percent during this period.
