ChatGPT is expected to have some competition for the iPhone soon. In a recent newsletter, from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, it was hinted at Apple's evolving approach to AI integration. As a part of its new Apple Intelligence initiative, the tech giant will reportedly prepare itself to integrate Google's Gemini chatbot into its ecosystem. The new AI feature is expected to arrive soon for Apple users.
In the newsletter, Gurman suggested that Apple will likely announce a partnership with Google by the end of the year (timeline unspecified). This collaboration will further aim at incorporating Google AI into the range of iPhones, which will enhance the AI capabilities of the handset, Mashable India reported.
Gurman wrote, "I expect an Apple deal with Google or Anthropic, and at least the former to be announced around the time Apple Intelligence launches this fall.”
This move has been stated as a significant strategic shift for Apple, which used to rely on its in-house technologies traditionally. By teaming up with Google, Apple is said to leverage Gemini's robust capabilities to bolster its own AI offerings. The integration of Gemini would further mean that iPhone users could use Gemini for managing certain tasks, and will be having more versatile AI experience on the iOS device, along with other existing tools like Siri.
Along with Gemini integration, ChatGPT will also become more embedded in Apple's ecosystem. Later this year (in 2024), ChatGPT will link up with Siri and other apps on the Apple device, which will offer the answers when it could provide more relevant information than Apple's native AI.
How will it work?
So, if you ask any question to Siri, and ChatGPT has a more suitable response, then Siri will prompt you to use or switch to ChatGPT. This seamless collaboration between AI systems in the Apple device will aim to enhance the user experience by ensuring the most capable AI handles.
Multiple AI chatbots on Apple devices
Apple has confirmed its plans which will support multiple AI chatbots on one device for a more convenient user experience. With Gurman’s insights, it appears that Gemini AI will be among the first to join ChatGPT in Apple's AI lineup.

Furthermore, Apple will provide an opt-out option for the users, which will let the user disable these features- meaning the user will be able to use a more traditional experience on the device (iPhone).
As Apple moves towards its AI initiatives, users could anticipate a more dynamic and interactive iPhone experience, which has been tailored by some of the leading AI technologies in the industry.
