Meta is rolling out a new feature for its users in India. As per Meta founder, Mark Zuckerberg, Meta Verified is coming to WhatsApp Business in India. The announcement was made at the Meta’s annual Conversations event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Apart from India, the feature is also rolling out to users in Brazil, Indonesia and Colombia.

“And, Meta Verified on WhatsApp is coming to Brazil, India, Indonesia and Colombia so people know when they’re chatting with authentic shops and services,” Zuckerberg announced at the event.

The Meta Verified badge on WhatsApp indicates that a business is authentic, providing users with confidence that the business they are engaging with is legitimate. For business owners, the Meta Verified badge offers protection against impersonation.

“When you see a Meta Verified badge, this means a business has registered their information with Meta. Businesses using Meta Verified receive enhanced account support (including impersonation protection) and can use WhatsApp across multiple devices for their employees,” Meta wrote in a blog post.

What is Meta Verified?

Meta Verified is a subscription bundle on Instagram and Facebook that provides a verified badge for account authentication using a government ID, proactive account protection, access to account support, and increased visibility and reach.
Meta launched Meta Verified for creators in February of last year. Then, at the company’s Conversations Conference in Mumbai in September, Zuckerberg announced that Meta Verified would soon expand to businesses on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Now, around seven months later, Meta is introducing Meta Verified to businesses in India.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is currently testing a new layout for its instant messaging platform, which includes changes to the status update page. This new layout will enable users to preview status updates without having to open them. It is anticipated that this update will be released to both iOS and Android users in the future.
