Logitech, Meta collaborates on MX Ink Stylus for Quest Headsets

The MX Ink stylus comes with the ability to operate as a third controller for Meta Quest headsets which will let the users switch between the standard Quest controllers and the stylus effortlessly.

Logitech has announced the launch of its latest product, the MX Ink stylus, which has been designed in partnership with Meta. This stylus has been designed to enhance user experience and functionality for Meta Quest mixed reality (MR) headsets.

A Stylus which has been Tailored for Mixed Reality is named as ‘MX Ink stylus’. It is specifically designed for use with Meta Quest MR headsets, which include the Quest 3 and Quest 2 models. It has been developed via close collaboration with Meta and is intended to provide users with greater precision and control for various tasks within MR environments. 

No matter if you are creating art, navigating through applications, or annotating documents, the MX Ink has been designed to offer seamless integration and enhanced usability.

Functions as a third controller

One of the standout features of the MX Ink stylus is its ability to operate as a third controller for Meta Quest headsets which enables the users to effortlessly switch between the standard Quest controllers and the stylus without any disruption. 

The pairing process is simple and can be managed via the Meta Quest app, which will ensure the MX Ink- is ready to use with compatible headsets.

Designed for natural interaction

The MX Ink stylus comes with a pen-like design which provides a comfortable and familiar feel. It comes with a pressure-sensitive tip and has been designed to mimic the natural experience of writing or drawing, making it suitable for both- 2D and 3D content creation. 

Furthermore, the stylus could further be paired with the MX Mat to deliver an even better and smoother writing and drawing experience.

Availability?

As per the reports, the new MX Ink stylus will hit the market to enhance their interaction with the Meta Quest headsets. This collaboration between Meta and Logitech will highlight a commitment to pushing the boundaries in the realm of mixed reality.

Market trends and projections

A recent report from International Data Corporation (IDC) forecasts that the demand for MR headsets is set to rebound, reaching 9.7 million units in 2024. This marks a significant recovery from a 23 per cent decline when compared with last year’s number. 

By 2028, the market for MR headsets is expected to grow by 24.7 million units. Key industry players driving this growth include Apple, Microsoft Corporation, Magic Leap, Alphabet and Meta.

As per Furhan Zafar, VP and Sustaining Product Operations and Accessories at Meta, the introduction of the MX Ink stylus is a significant development for the Meta Quest ecosystem. He highlighted the potential benefits for Meta customers, noting that the MX Ink is expected to support a wide range of applications which are welcomed by the users.

Zafar further said, “MX Ink offers a first-of-its-kind input device for the Meta Quest ecosystem. We believe Meta customers will benefit from having such a complementary tool that will be supported by many applications and users alike.”

As mixed reality technology continues to evolve, tools like the MX Ink are poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of virtual and augmented reality interactions.
