HMD Global, the company which was known to roll Nokia-branded smartphone has confirmed the name of its first smartphone which has been scheduled to launch in India. The company which makes Nokia-branded smartphones announced the launch of smartphones under the HMD brand name at the beginning of 2024. The company has further launched launched HMD Plus series smartphones in the European market and now the company is ready to launch its first smartphone in the country.
Apart from this, HMD will further launch its first smartphone in the American market under the name of HMD Vibe.
Announcement
HMD India confirmed the name of its first X-handled smartphone, which will be named as HMD Arrow in the country. The company had run a contest by the name of ‘HMDNameOurSmartphone’ to finalize the name of the first smartphone which is scheduled to launch in India.
Also, the company has partnered with IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, as the brand announced the name of HMD's first smartphone from the cricket team’s official X handle (formerly known as Twitter), which has been re-posted by HMD India.
HMD Arrow: Features
According to the report, HMD Arrow could be launched as an entry-level smartphone. The smartphone could be a rebranded version of HMD Pulse which was launched in Europe. On the specifications side, the new Arrow will come with a 6.56-inch HD + display (1612 x 720 pixels) and will be powered by a Unisoc T606 processor.
The new budget smartphone will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, which could be expanded further by up to 256 GB. The RAM of the smartphone could be expanded further expanded by up to 6GB. The device will run on the Android 14 operating system, which will further have 2 years of OS upgrade- making it a fit to use for a longer than usual span.
Backed by a 5000mAh battery, with a 10W USB Type C charging feature and on the camera front, the device will feature a dual rear camera setup- a 13MP main autofocus shooter. On the front, it will have an 8MP camera for selfies and video calling.
Pricing
In the international markets, this smartphone was priced at EUR 140, which is around Rs 12,500. We expect the device to come in India at the same price tag, or even less, to cater for the market.
