Google is all set to start the production of its Pixel 8 smartphone in India. As per a report, a local contract manufacturer will produce the smartphone for the company. The smartphone was launched in October last year and the first batch of Made in India Pixel 8 smartphone is expected to arrive later this year.
As per a report citing two sources familiar with the matter, Dixon Technologies, a local electronic manufacturer, will produce the smartphone in the country. While the Pixel 8 smartphone will be available for sale in the country, it is currently being produced in China and Vietnam. The first batch of locally produced Pixel 8 smartphones is expected to hit the Indian market in September this year.
This came after the tech giant announced its plan to manufacture the Pixel 8 smartphone in the country last year. The report confirms that the company is on track to manufacture its smartphone in the country. According to the report, Dixon will be producing up to 1 lakh units per month.
Google Pixel 8 specifications
Last year, Google launched the Pixel 8 series in India and global markets at the Made by Google 2023 event. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are equipped with Google's Tensor G3 chip, 8GB and 12GB of RAM respectively, and up to 256GB of inbuilt storage. The Pixel 8 features a 6.2-inch OLED screen, while the Pixel 8 Pro sports a 6.7-inch OLED screen. Both flagship phones are equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera with a Samsung GN2 sensor.
Additionally, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro feature a 12-megapixel and 64-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, respectively. The Pro model is also equipped with a 48-megapixel telephoto camera. Both phones have an 11-megapixel selfie camera and feature 4,575mAh and 5,050mAh batteries with support for 27W and 30W wired charging, respectively, along with wireless charging support.
