Google has introduced five new features in its Chrome browser for Android and iOS mobile devices to enhance the search experience. These include new shortcuts for local search results and a redesigned address bar for easier navigation. Additionally, the new 'Chrome Actions' feature aims to help users save time when interacting with local businesses.
The new features in Chrome include Chrome Actions, which will help users easily perform tasks without going through settings. These features will now be available in local search results, allowing users to quickly access shortcuts like "Call," "Directions," and "Reviews" when searching for a local business. This feature is currently available in Chrome on Android devices, with a planned iOS version set to launch later this fall.
Google has refreshed the Chrome address bar on iPads and Android tablets, to take advantage of their larger screen sizes. The new Chrome design allows users to open the address bar and still see the web page they're on, which makes better use of larger tablet screens for an improved browsing experience.
In addition, the Chrome browser on iOS and Android devices will suggest shortcuts based on past searches. For example, if a user frequently looks up "schedules" and often visits the City Metro website, that website will now appear higher up in the search suggestions when the user searches for "schedules."
Another helpful feature is trending searches, which were previously only accessible on Android devices. Google is now introducing trending search suggestions to the Chrome address bar on iOS, enabling users to view popular searches happening across Google Search.
“You’ll now see trending search suggestions in your Chrome address bar on iOS, a feature already available on Android,” said the company.
Lastly, Live sports cards are now available in Chrome’s Discover Feed on the New Tab page on iOS and Android.
“So when your favourite team is playing, you’ll get automatic updates on how the game is going if you've followed the team or expressed interest in it in the past,” said Google.
