BSNL partnered with Prune

To facilitate this new service, BSNL has officially partnered with Prune, a company which specializes in telecom solutions. The new collaboration will enable BSNL to compete with the private telecom operators, who have been offering home delivery of SIM cards already.

Customers are choosing a variety of plans and place their orders directly on the Prune platform. Furthermore, the Prune app could be downloaded from the Google Play Store for a more streamlined experience for the users.

Will SIM delivery help BSNL to attract new customers?

BSNL has been facing challenges lately, in retaining and attracting customers, primarily due to inferior network services.

Besides the introduction of convenient services like home delivery of SIM cards, the core issue remains BSNL's network performance.

Network upgrades are crucial

To compete with private telecom operators and to reverse the losing customers, BSNL must prioritize the deployment of 4G networks nationwide. Improving the network quality is another important aspect which is essential to attract and retain customers.

TelecomTalk reported that the telecom services revenue for FY24 has already declined due to a continuous loss of subscribers for the government-owned telecom company, which has further highlighted the urgent need for network enhancements.

BSNL’s plan for the future

While the SIM card’s home delivery is a positive step towards customer convenience, where BSNL’s ability to stage a turnaround hinges on its network capabilities.

The successful deployment of high-speed networks is said to lay the groundwork for other customers to focus on initiatives, like SIM delivery- to make it more impactful. Without addressing the fundamental network issues, it will be challenging for BSNL to compete effectively and regain market share.
