The telecom service providers are officially hiking their price of tariffs, by about 26 per cent, which will be applicable from July 4 onwards. In the time of concerning price hikes, BSNL has come up with an economical plan to cater for its loyal customer base across the country- launching a new Rs 249 plan which will offer significant savings and extensive benefits.

Rising costs from private telecoms

Private telecom companies have recently announced a substantial price hike for their recharge plans:

  • Jio and Airtel: Price hikes will take effect from July 3, 2024.
  • Vodafone Idea: New prices will be effective from July 4, 2024.

These changes will result in customers who are paying around Rs 600 more for their recharge plans, which has been putting a heavier burden on their pockets.

BSNL’s Rs 249 Plan: Details

In response to these price hikes, BSNL has launched a new Rs 249 plan, which will provide substantial relief to its customers. Here are the details about the plan’s offering:

The new plan will last for 45 days, which is comparatively longer than the usual plans.

  • Unlimited free calling to any network within India.
  • A total of 90GB of data, equating to 2GB per day.
  • 100 free SMS per day.

BSNL's move to offer such a comprehensive plan at a lower price tag aims at easing the financial burden on the users while providing excellent value.

BSNL versus Airtel’s Plan

To put BSNL's new plan into perspective, let's compare it with Airtel’s offering to know which is better:

Airtel’s Rs 249 plan:

  • Valid for 28 days.
  • 1GB data per per day.

BSNL’s Rs 249 Plan:

  • Valid for 45 days.
  • 2GB data per day.

The new BSNL plan not only provides 17 additional days of service to the user, but it also doubles the daily data allowance when compared to Airtel’s plan which is available at the same price.

BSNL’s strategy

As private telecom companies are continuing to increase their plan prices, BSNL’s introduction of a cost-effective plan highlights the commitment to customer affordability. By offering a longer validity and more data at a lower cost, BSNL has been positioning itself as a customer-friendly alternative in the competitive telecom market.
