Apple, a leading smart device brand headed by Tim Cook is planning to enter the foldable smartphone market and is anticipated to launch the new 7.9-inch foldable iPhone by 2026. As per the recent insights from analysts, this new device will feature a ‘wrap-around’ design, which will distinguish it from current foldable models on the market.
Apple to foray into the foldable world
While companies like OnePlus, Oppo, Samsung and Vivo, already have their foldable devices in the market, Apple, on the other hand, is yet to introduce a foldable iPhone- which will be the first of its kind.
However, a report surfaced on 9to5Mac where an analyst Jeff Pu indicated that Apple is working to enter the foldable device space. Pu further notes that Apple will launch a new device with 7.9-inch foldable capabilities. It is further said that the iPhone’s design (foldable) will be inspired by the Huawei Mate Xs 2, which is a popular model of the device which comes with an outward folding display.
Furthermore, Pu and Ming-Chi Kuo (a renowned analyst) have also highlighted the broader foldable ambitions of Apple. They suggest that the tech player is not only working on the 7.9-inch model but is also developing a 20.3-inch hybrid foldable device, which is further expected to launch in 2025.
This larger device might resemble the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, which will offer a blend of tablet and laptop functionality.

The upcoming foldable iPhone is anticipated to incorporate a ‘wrap-around’ design, which will depart from the traditional foldable smartphone concept.
