Followed with the launch of the Mi Mix 3 that happened a few months back, a new Xiaomi smartphone has been teased that will feature a 48 Megapixel camera. The image was tipped by Xiaomi President Lin Bin on Weibo that shows the phone with a 48 Megapixel camera along with a dual LED flash.

It not sure on how many sensors the phone might carry. What is only known is the fact that the phone has a camera module that is positioned in the upper left corner on the rear of the device. The only thing that can be said after looking at the image is that Xiaomi could be the first company that will launch the phone with a 48 Megapixel camera sensor. We could expect a Sony IMX586 sensor on the phone, as it was introduced as the worlds first 48 Megapixel smartphone camera sensor that comes with an ultra-compact pixel size of 0.8 μm.
As if now, the only chip that supports the 48 Megapixel camera is the Snapdragon 675 SoC that is based on 11nm Mobile Platform. Moreso, Xiaomi at the 4G/5G Summit that took place in Hong Kong, had confirmed that the company was planning on launching a Snapdragon 675 powered device next year.
Based on 11nm architecture, the Snapdragon 675 SoC comes with 2 performance cores (based on new Cortex A76) and 6 efficiency cores (based on Cortex A55). It also supports enhanced AI Engine, Spectra 250 ISP, Kryo 460 CPUs and Adreno 612 GPU.
This chip can support up to three front and rear cameras, along with support for telephoto, wide angle, and super-wide image capturing, along with enhanced portrait mode (Bokeh) as well as 3D face unlock. There is no confirmation on the exact launch date, but we would know more about the device as and when the launch comes closer.
