Staqu, the Gurugram-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) start-up, on Thursday, launched Trinetra. This is an AI-based application made for the UP police department.
Staqu said that the app digitises and searches records via Artificial Intelligence and assists police forces at ground zero with real-time information retrieval during regular checks, investigations, verifications, and at police checkpoints.
OP Singh, Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police, said in a statement, "This is the era of incredible technology and we are happy that young ventures like Staqu are deploying their expertise to make this world a safer space".
With the help of this app, the UP police personals can easily register or search for criminals using simple biometric features like videos and images.
Staqu said in a statement that this application comes powered by facial recognition, visual search, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning technologies, which work well with low-resolution images and videos.
Trinetra comes backed with AI-powered gang identification technology, which not only identifies a criminal but also their associates that are active in different districts and part of the states, it added.
"It is the first police app carrying records of around five lakh criminals that are active in different districts and parts of the state," the statement added.
