Redmi that has now become a subbrand of Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Go. This is the first Android Go edition smartphone and has been launched in the European market with a starting price of 80 euros (Rs 6,500 approx.).

The company went on to Tweet about the Redmi Go and according to the tweet, the Redmi Go comes with a 5-inch HD resolution with 720p and is powered by a 1.4Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. Although the company hasn't revealed the name of the processor, some leaks suggest that the phone could use Snapdragon 425 SoC.
Other specs of the phone include an 8 Megapixel camera at the back with LED flash and a 5 Megapixel camera on the front. The phone will house a 3000mAH battery, but no details about the RAM are mentioned. Leaks suggest that the phone will come with 1GB RAM along with 8GB storage that is said to go inline with Android Go smartphones.
In case you don't know, Android Go phones are optimised version of the operating system designed for phones with 1GB or less RAM. The Redmi Go is expected to come with Android Oreo 8.1 OS variant.
Android Go phones are basically, devices with less storage that get optimized operating systems with modest hardware and get apps like Gmail Go, Google Maps Go and Assistant Go etc.
Redmi Go will come in Black and Blue colour options and reports suggest that the phone would come with micro-USB 2.0 port, Bluetooth 4.0 and 128GB external storage support.
