LG has gone and officially launched the LG V40 ThinQ at an event in New York on Wednesday. The LG V40 ThinQ is a successor to the LG V30 and happens to be LG's first phone with a triple rear camera and a dual front camera setup. Other features of the phone include a Military-grade build (MIL-STD-810 certification) along with  IP68 water and dust resistance. The smartphone is very audio-centric and comes with a Boombox speaker with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad-DAC audio, and DTS:X 3D surround sound.

LG V40 ThinQ specifications and Features

The LG V40 ThinQ specs include a 6.4-inch QHD+ (1440x3120 pixels) OLED FullVision panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, backed with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM  and 128GB storage, which is expandable to 2TB via microSD card.

Getting on with the optics, the LG V40 ThinQ features a triple camera set up at the back that comprises of a 12MP sensor with f/1.5 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size and 78-degree viewing angle, along with a 16MP ultra-wide angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture, 1-micron pixel size, 107-degree viewing angle and a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, 1-micron pixel size, and 45-degree viewing angle. Towards the front is an 8MP primary camera that has f/1.9 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size and a 5MP wide-angle secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size.

The camera offers a new Triple Preview feature that allows you to take three simultaneous shots from the three rear cameras, letting you pick the best. Other features of the rear camera include a Dual Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), HDR, and an updated AI Cam mode that can recognise up to 19 subjects and recommends 4 optimised filter options.

It houses a 3,300mAh battery under the hood, with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support and fast wireless charging. The phone also comes with a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, face recognition for security as well as DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, Boombox Speaker and 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC tuned by Meridian for better audio.

LG V40 ThinQ release date and price

The LG V40 ThinQ price starts at $899.99 in the US (Rs. 66,400 approx.). LG will be offering the V40 ThinQ in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Platinum Gray, and Carmine Red colours and will go on sale starting 18th October. The LG V40 ThinQ launch in India is not known at the moment but is likely to happen soon.
