JioPhone and JioPhone 2 get WhatsApp Messenger: Check here how to download

WhatsApp will now be available on JioPhone and WhatsApp has built a new version of its messaging app to run on the KaiOS. The app will be available to download via JioPhone app store. Facebook and YouTube too will be coming on both JioPhone and JioPhone 2.

WhatsApp, one of the most used cross-platform messaging platform that has over one billion users will now be available on JioPhone. To run on the KaiOS operating system, WhatsApp has gone and built a new version of its messaging app for JioPhone. Followed with the new version of the messaging app, JioPhone users will be able to send end to end encrypted messages and the app will be available to download via JioPhone app store from 10th September. WhatsApp messenger will be rolling out to all JioPhone users by 20th September.

WhatsApp Vice President Chris Daniels went on to say that with this, millions of users will be able to use the WhatsApp private messaging across India on the JioPhone. He further added by saying that, by designing of the new app for KaiOS, WhatsApp desires to extend the facility for people to communicate with everyone in India and around the world, via best messaging experience.

Just to recall, Reliance Jio not too long ago had launched its second generation feature phone called the JioPhone 2. The handset was launched in August this year that comes with 4G connectivity. The handset was launched at a price tag of Rs 2999. Talking of specs, the device comes with a  2.4-inch QVGA display that packs in 320 x 240 pixels resolution and has a QWERTY keyboard. The internals of the phone comprises of 512MB of RAM with 4GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded to 128 GB via SD card slot. In terms of connectivity, the phone comes with dual-SIM support, VoWiFi, VoLTE and packs in a 2,000mAh battery.

Prominently, other popular social media apps like Facebook and YouTube too will be coming on both JioPhone and JioPhone 2, as the company at the launch event went on to say that these apps will be accessible through JioStore for download. It had also notified that YouTube and WhatsApp would be rolled out in batches to the handsets through OTA update. Moreso, users will be able to access Google services like Google Maps, Search on JioPhone.
