Instagram users will now be able to send voice messages on the platform. Instagram Direct, is a feature that lets users communicate with other Instagram users that have got a new update, wherein one can now send voice messages. This feature sounds similar to how one can send voice messages on Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp.

Instagram had made an announcement via a tweet that points to the new features wherein one can send voice messages in Instagram Direct. This feature now not only lets users share photos, video clips or texts with other Instagram users but also allows them to send voice messages.
In order to send a voice message, one needs to go to the Direct section on the Instagram app and select the other Instagram user, after which one needs to tap on the microphone button placed next to the camera roll button in the message bar. To send the message, one needs to press and hold the microphone button to record the message and release the button to send the message.
The Instagram team tweeted, "Starting today, you can send voice messages in Direct. Talk the way you want to be heard, whether by whispering what you’re up to or shouting a compliment".
