Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its fifth edition of its popular smartphone range. Xiaomi will be launching Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus on Valentine’s Day, February 14 in India. The company has started sending media invites for the launch event which is scheduled to take place in National capital in few days. It will be unveiling its Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus models in India. The smartphone has already debuted in China in December alongside the Redmi 5 Plus.

Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus Features

Xiaomi Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. It sports a bezel-less screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It has a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 450 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone is available in three variants in China; 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The last variant has been made available in China recently.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 boasts of a 3300mAh battery with MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. Talking about camera, Redmi 5 has a 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. It also sports a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone, following the footsteps of Note 4. A microSD card slot is also available for expanding storage.

Coming to Redmi 5 Plus, it comes with a bigger screen of 5.99 inch full HD+screen (2160x1080 pixel resolution). It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with a clock speed of 2.0GHz with Adreno 506 GPU. Redmi 5 Plus was launched in China with two variants; 3GB RAM with 32GB Storage and 4GB RAM+54GB storage. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

There’s a lot of anticipation around Redmi 5 launch in India. It is expected to be priced at an entry-level segment, where the company has a stranglehold in the market. The Redmi 5 is priced at 799 Yuan in China, which equals to Rs 8,100. We’ll have to wait up to February 14 to see what Redmi has in store for us this time.
