HMD Global, the Finnish company which brought back Nokia into the smartphone business, made its first India-exclusive launch with the Nokia 2 today.
The affordable smartphone has not been disclosed, it is expected to retail at about 99 Euros (approx. Rs 7,500).
The Nokia 2 boasts a 5-inch HD (720x1280px) LTPS display that HMD Global says is best-in-class, with 1:1300 contrast ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The company is touting the 4100 mAh battery that can last for two days if the phone is used for five hours per day.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212 SoC, Nokia 2 features an 8 mega-pixel primary camera, along with 5MP front camera.
Supporting 4G connectivity, the budget smartphone with a 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory and a microSD card slot for expansion.
The phone runs Android Nougat out of the box, with Oreo update, and will be available in three colour options: copper, black, and white.
Till date, HMD Global has launched four smartphones in India – Nokia 3 which retails for Rs 9,499, Nokia 5 available at Rs 12,499 and Nokia 6 which sells for Rs 14,999 and the flagship Nokia 8 which comes in at Rs 36,999.
