Moto G6, Moto G6 Play launch event in India today
The Moto ‘G series’ of Motorola smartphones have always been a popular choice among Indian consumers when it comes to affordable phones. The sixth-gen Moto G handsets were launched by the company earlier last month in Brazil. Now, the company is bringing two handsets Moto G6 and G6 play in India, which will be launched today. The launch event, which will be held in Delhi, kicks off at 11:30 am IST. The company has exclusively partnered with Twitter to stream the launch event. Users will be able to watch the live event as it unfolds via “Moto Showtime” on Twitter.

Motorola will be streaming the launch event live on both its official Facebook and Twitter channels.
Additionally, users will also be able to tweet with #Motog6 and #Motog6play to use watch the event in real-time and post custom emojis. They will also be able to have live conversations with fellow watchers in the livestream window.Moreover, the launch event will have Manish Paul as the host; along with performances by various artists such as Raaga Trippin Acapella group, Jasleen Royal, and others.
Moto G6, Moto G6 Play: Specifications and Price
The Moto G6 is the biggest smartphone amongst the two as it sports better specifications. The Moto G6 has a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 450 SoC and comes in two RAM/storage options- 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. The device rocks dual cameras at the back- a primary 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture is paired with a secondary 5MP depth sensor. The phone has a 16MP selfie shooter with selfie flash too.
The device boots Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and is backed by a 3000mAh battery with 15W charger. The phone is expected to be priced at Rs 14,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs 17,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. The Moto G6 will be exclusive to Amazon in India.
Coming to the Moto G6 Play, it has the same 5.7-inch display but comes with HD+ resolution. Also, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 430 SoC, and the USP of the device is the 4000mAh battery inside. It also boots Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. A single 13MP camera is present at the back, while a 5MP sensor is present on the front. It’s exclusive to Flipkart.
Moto G6 Play is the cheaper one out of the two upcoming handsets, which costs $199 (roughly Rs 13,330) and Moto G6 costs $249 (roughly Rs 16,680) in the US. Motorola has revealed that both phones will be available at different e-commerce platforms in India, Moto G6 Play at Flipkart and Moto G6 at Amazon.
