A day after the brutal killing of the Congress leader in Tamil Nadu surfaced, former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Sunday condemned the incident and slammed the incumbent Chief Minister demanding a special attention to law and order issues and bringing to book the guilty.
Ex-CM, who heads the AIADMK Workers Rights Retrieval Committee, accused the DMK government of "negligence" and complete deterioration of law and order in Tamil Nadu. According to him it has turned the state into a den of anti-social elements. "The Congress leader having been burnt to death proves this," he claimed.
Notably, the half-burnt body of KPK Jayakumar Danasingh, Congress party's Tirunelveli East district unit president, was found at his farm in Karaichuthupudur near Thisayanvilai. Danasingh was earlier reported missing on Thursday (May 2). Panneerselvam also revealed that Dhanasingh had "lodged a complaint with police," over threats to his life. Still, the Congress party leader was killed and it showed the extent of slackness under the DMK regime, he added.
'It is suspicious if DMK acting in support of anti-social elements', alleges Panneerselvam
Panneerselvam demanded that Stalin must pay individual attention to law and order issues, rein in criminals with an iron fist and bring the perpetrators of Dhanasingh's murder to justice. Raising questions over the negligence of Police, he said that had adequate security cover been extended by police to the Congress leader, the murder would not have happened and the DMK government failed to prevent the crime. "This leads to suspicion if the DMK regime is acting in support of anti-social elements."
In his statement, he alleged that under the DMK government, there was no guarantee for Tamil Nadu people's safety during the past three years. Such incidents of crime demonstrate that anti-social elements, extremists and terrorists have seen "evolution," under the DMK-rule, Panneerselvam alleged.
