Coimbatore is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu which has 39 parliamentary seats. The Coimbatore seat comprises 6 Assembly segments including Palladam, Sulur, Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore(north), Coimbatore(south), Singanallur. The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The CPIM, the BJP are the main parties in the constituency. In this election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded party state unit chief K Annamalai from the high-profile seat. He is up against DMK’s Ganapathi Rajkumar.

The Lok Sabha seat witnessed a voter turnout of 64.89 per cent, according to the Election Commission data.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Nagarajan, P. from AIADMK won the seat and was polled 431,717 votes with a vote share of 36.69 per cent. BJP candidate Radhakrishnan, C.P. got 389,701 votes (33.12 per cent) and was the runner-up. Nagarajan, P. defeated Radhakrishnan, C.P. by a margin of 42,016 votes.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Natarajan. P.R from CPIM won the seat with a margin of 179,143 votes. Natarajan P.R was polled 571,150 votes with a vote share of 46.00 per cent and defeated Radhakrishnan. C.P from BJP who got 392,007 votes (31.34 per cent).
