Copenhagen, Jun 11: Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki eased into the semifinals of the Sony Ericsson Open on Friday with a 6-0, 6-1 demolition of Italian Alberta Brianti.
The 20-year-old Dane took just 55 minutes to see off the eighth-seeded Brianti in front of a sellout crowd at Farum Arena.
Wozniacki will meet qualifier Mona Barthel in Saturday's semifinal after the 142nd-ranked German recovered from a set down to beat American third seed Bethanie Mattek-Sands 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Fourth-seeded Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic also edged through to the semis with a 4-6, 6-0, 7-6 (5) win over Shuai Zhang of China.
Safarova will face the 112th-ranked Petra Martic of Croatia, who defeated Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. AP
