BASTAD, Sweden : Top-seeded Robin Soderling of Sweden has beaten compatriot Andreas Vinciguerra in three sets to reach the quarterfinals of the Swedish Open.
The defending champion hit 15 aces on the way to a 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-2 victory over Vinciguerra on Wednesday.The two-time French Open finalist will next play Andreas Seppi, who defeated Potito Starace 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7) in an all-Italian match on center court.
The No.5-ranked Soderling broke the wild card's serve in the second and eighth games of the match to take the first set easily.
Soderling squandered two match points in the second set, which Vinciguerra won on a tie-break, but recovered to claim the third. AP
