Wimbledon, Jun 28 : A person with knowledge of the medical test results has told AP that Rafael Nadal is not seriously injured and is expected to play in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.
The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Nadal has not yet released a statement to the media, says Tuesday “the MRI doesn't show anything. But pain is pain. ... He is expected to practice later today.”
Nadal, a two-time champion at the All England Club, hurt his left foot in the first set of Monday's win over Juan Martin del Potro. He twice called for a trainer during the set, but still managed to win 7-6 (6), 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
In Wednesday's quarterfinals, Nadal is to face Mardy Fish. AP
