New Delhi: The husband of Swiss tennis star Martina Hingis has accused his wife and her mother of assaulting and taking valuables from him, causing him to plan to flee Switzerland in fear for his life, it has been reported.

Thibault Hutin, a 26-year old equestrian claimed that his 32-year-old estranged wife, her mother and her mother's boyfriend had “beaten and scratched” him in an attack at the couple's apartment in the Swiss village of Feusisberg.

The boyfriend had also struck him in the head with a DVD player, he told Swiss newspaper Blick, adding that he was so “terrified” he has moved into a hotel and plans to return to his native France.

Police in the northern Swiss canton of Schwyz confirmed that Mr Hutin is filing a complaint following “serious problems” at the couple's apartment, without specifying the nature of the incident or the parties involved.

Mr Hutin told Blick that on Monday evening he was in his flat when someone rang the doorbell. He claims Martina and her mother, Melanie Molitor hit him

“Naturally, my upbringing forbids me to hit women., he said. He alleged that Mario Widmer, Melanie's partner, then “whacked” him on the head with a DVD player.

The Gallic horseman said that after fleeing the apartment he realised that his wallet and credit cards were missing. He claims he returned accompanied by police and demanded the return of his valuables.

“I was shocked! I would never have thought it could go so far.”

“I'm really afraid,” he said.

Miss Hingis' private life hit the headlines in July after Mr Hutin, whom she married in 2010, claimed she had destroyed their marriage with infidelity.

Miss Hingis responded only that the couple had separated at the start of the year.

Dubbed “the little princess of Trübbach”, the player's clean-cut image took a knock in 2007 after testing positive for cocaine during the Wimbledon tournament.

She came back from six years of retirement in July this year to play doubles.

Her representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
