Lausanne, Switzerland, Nov 29: Tennis player Daniel Koellerer has appeared at the Court of Arbitration for Sport to challenge his lifetime ban for attempting to fix matches.

The court said Monday that Koellerer attended the start of a scheduled two-day case as he tries to overturn a ban imposed by the Tennis Integrity Unit in May.

The 28-year-old Austrian is appealing against the men's and women's tours, the International Tennis Federation and Grand Slam Committee which collectively set up the anti-corruption body.

A verdict is expected early next year.

Koellerer was the first player banned for life for attempted corruption after being found guilty of three violations between October 2009 and July 2010.

Koellerer's ranking peaked at No. 55 in October 2009.
