Mason, Ohio:  Novak Djokovic's bid to become the first player to win all nine Masters events has been put on hold for at least another year.

Top-ranked American John Isner upset Djokovic 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-5 in the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Open on Friday.

The world's top-ranked player has never won Cincinnati, losing in the finals four times. He needs to hoist the trophy in Cincinnati to become the first player to win all nine Masters events. Djokovic lost to Roger Federer in the title match last year.

Instead, he has to wait a little more.

Juan Martin del Potro also reached the semifinals. In the women's draw, Jelena Jankovic and Li Na have reached the semifinals.
