Acapulco (Mexico): Dominika Cibulkova beat American Christina McHale 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4 to win the women's final at the Mexican Open. In the men's final, fourth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria defeated South African Kevin Anderson, seeded fifth, 7-6 (1), 3-6, 7-6 (5).
Cibulkova is the the top-seeded player from Slovakia, also the runner-up at the Australian Open in January, reports Xinhua.
This is her fourth career title and first since Stanford in 2013.
"It was a tough match, I'm really tired, I had to dig deep physically and mentally," Cibulkova said after the win Saturday.
"She was very aggressive and kept coming back, but it's a final and thanks to my experience I was able to do it."
The 21-year-old McHale, ranked 70th, reached her first tour title match.
Previously, her best results were two semi-finals in Quebec, in 2010 and 2011.
